Let the consignment sale season begin

On the way home tonight Emily and I stopped at Cannon UMC's consignement sale. For $28 we got a Barbie house (sigh, another one but she used her allowance to pay for it), another book to add to her huge collection, a church dress, a pair of jean Carpi's, a solid colored tee-shirt, a swimsuit, and a bathrobe. I think we had a great start to the consignment season.

Consignment Sale Results

I got a check in the mail today for $191.68 from the items that I sold. Well, I spent approximately $400. At first it may seem that I really over spent. However, if you think about it, I did extremely well. Emily has plenty of shoes for the winter, 5 pairs including water boots, winter boots, casual shoes and two pairs of tennis shoes. This year she will have a variety of dresses. She has Halloween shirts to wear next month and plenty of Christmas items to wear in December. She actually has enough clothes so that if I don't have to wash but once a week. She got toys and computer games to play with now and some that she will get at Christmas. She got sweaters and sweatshirts to keep her warm. She has enough pants that are bigger so that I won't be struggling to find sales in January because she out grew them like she did last year. She got pajamas and even a Halloween costume. All and all I think that I did good.

Consignment Sale #6 - My sale & the last one

Since this is the sale that I sale Emily's stuff, I got to shop early. I had 276 items to sale. I spent $77 at this sale. The following pictures don't represent all the items.
Mom was able to add adjustable waist in the pants that didn't have them. What a blessing!!

I'm eager to get my check to see how I did.

Consignment Sale #5

During a lunch break a few weeks ago, I stopped by consignment sale #5 and found the following loot for $9.50. This was the Between Friends sale in Lawrenceville. It isn't huge but I normally find a few items. The black pants were from Talbot's and had tags on them. They fit Emily perfectly.

Consignment Sale #4 - The BIG one!

This is consignment sale is the biggest! It takes place at the Gwinnett County fairgrounds. It has 1,000 sellers. The madness is crazy, but the deals are so worth it. I even took the entire day off of work to shop. Hartford came along as well. Between us, we purchased 66 items for a total of $222.60 which is an average of $3.37 for each item.

The dolls in the bags will be a Christmas present.









Some of the computer games came in a lot and I'll sell the one of the stacks. One of the stacks we went ahead and gave her and the other stack of games will be saved for Christmas. The unicorn is new and I'll save it for Christmas.

Emily was singing thanks you over the items that we gave her.

Although I think we did well, I can't help be a little disappointed because I had hoped that we would find more Christmas presents.

Let the Bargains begin - Consignment Sale #1

The fall consignment have begun. Today I attended Fairy Dust Kids' Consignment Sale in Buford GA on my lunch break. I purchased the following six items for $18.

Consignment Sale numbers

I am thrilled to report that I received a check in the mail for $194.73. It doesn't cover what I spent this season. However, it covers a huge chunk of it and plus, I was able to buy a bunch of size 8 clothes that she will start wearing after Christmas and a bunch of Christmas presents. Again, I'm just thrilled about the success of this season of sales.

Consignment Sale Pick up

Saturday night I finally sat down for a moment and pretended to watch few minutes of a movies. I can't hear the television very well so I normally don't even pretend. But I was so tired that I enjoyed just sitting down for a moment and my mind soon began wonder what I really rather be doing and I thought to myself that I would rather be at a scrapbook crop. Then I remembered why I wasn't which was because I had to go pick up my unsold items at the church. I looked at the clock, jumped up and yelled to Hartford, "I gotta go, I've got 15 minutes to get to the church and pick up my unsold items."

I rushed to the church. I wasn't the only one that was picking up their stuff at the last minute. I had two loads that didn't sell. Once I got home, I inspected the items and went over my list.

I picked up 90 items which means that I sold 244 items out of 334. That's 71%. I normally sell a higher percentage. Nonetheless, I am thrilled to no ends with what was sold. Most of the items that I didn't think would sell, sold. There were only a few items that I brought home that I thought would sell. However, I'm sure that some of the items were misplaced at the sale and potential buyers didn't even see the items. That's just a part of it. Sometimes I try to re-sale the items next time around but I usually, try to get rid of the unsold items. I don't price my stuff high so usually it isn't worth working with the stuff again.

I'm eager to get the check to see how much I made. I purchased a lot of items this season for Emily at the four sales that I attended. I don't anticipate the check to more than what I spent but I hope it makes a good dent in it. The only things that I anticipate purchasing for Emily are some tennis shoes (I didn't find one pair at the sales) and some turtlenecks to wear under some items that she has. I think that I did good.

This afternoon I got to shop early at the consignment sale since I was a seller. I ended up with 38 items for $107.59. The loot included two Christmas jumpers, three pairs of pants and a bunch of shirts, sweaters, and jackets. Not shown are the American Girl doll items that I purchased, they are hidden for Christmas.

Consignment sale update and a little mud

Yesterday evening around 4:00, someone in the office announced, "oh, it's raining." Since Georgia is in a drought, rain is always welcomed. However, I had 334 items to drop off at the church for the sale. My thoughts were, "surely it will stop raining by 5:30." As, I headed out of the office, there wasn't a drop of rain that was falling and I was extremely pleased. I was feeling pretty good about things and just knew that I was even to get a parking spot near the drop off entrance.

I counted my blessings too soon. By the time I arrived at the church's parking lot, all the close parking spots were occupied and it was sprinkling rain. I got out of the Equinox and grabbed a box and thought that the unloading and the rain were not going to be too bad. However, the rain was somehow connected to the rain and with every load, it rained harder. I had a lot of loads and I was soaked by the time I had carried everything inside.

But my spirits were lifted by the lady who checked the clothes, she said, "Wow, did you dry clean all of this items, they look amazing." Her comment made me smile ear to ear. I didn't dry clean the items, however, I am a little picky when it comes to Emily's stuff. I don't try to sneak items into the sale that are stained and I iron everything to make it look it's very best.

Then, if things couldn't get better, they did. The owner of the sale decided that one of my items that was priced $10 was a must for her daughter and put it into her pile to purchase. How cool is that?

I ran out once again into to pouring rain and got into the Equinox. I was so thankful that the lightening didn't zap anyone. It was a little scary.

I was looking forward to getting home and out of the rain. I was singing to the radio when I remembered that we needed milk. I tried telling myself that we really didn't need milk because the rain was pouring so hard and I just didn't want to get back out in it. But, Emily's disappointed little face came to my mind because she dearly loves her milk with her meals, especially when it's chocolate milk.

Luckily by the time I stopped at Wal-Mart, the rain came to a halt. I ran in and gathered the milk and several of items of need and then I rushed to checked out for a speedy check out. The moment, yes the very moment that I swiped my debit card, the registers lost power. So, I waited and waited and waited right along with all the other customers. I had a lovely conversation with the cashier. She has worked at Wal-Mart for 14 and 1/2 years, and she has a grandson that is 2 and 1/2 that is the apple of her eye. Likewise, she knows a lot about Emily.

At last, the power was restored. But the credit card/debit card thingy wouldn't work on the register that I was at. The cashier asked me to give her my card so that she could run it through the register. That didn't work either. So, she handed my card back to me. But as she handed it back to me, she dropped it between the register and the bagging area. After want seemed like hours, the assistant manager located a screw driver and preyed the bagging area away from the register and retrieved my card. I was relieved. Then, I had to wait longer so that I could check out, again.

The only time that I lost my patience was when the greeter demanded to see my receipt as proof that I had paid because I had had those environmental friendly bags which may I add, I had to bag my items myself since I used them instead of the plastic bags. Ugh. I took a deep breaths as I left the store.

Moments later, I turned into the drive way to see Emily in a bathing suit trying to surf the water that had gathered in our drive way. Since that really wasn't working for her, she decided to play in the mud. Before I let her in the house, I took the water hose to her. As I carried her to the bathtub, I told her, "don't touch anything."

By the way, Emily drunk two glasses of chocolate milk with her dinner so the hassle at Wal-Mart was worth it.

Consignment Sale

August 3rd, I gathered, hung, tagged, and sorted Emily's fall and winter clothes that were too small and then I took them into the attic to wait until today. That was the easy part.The hard part was gathering and tagging the other items such as books, toys and shoes. Today, was the loading day. The trunk and the back seat of the Equinox was full.


I had 334 items listed on 13 pages.
Tomorrow, I'll drop these items off at the sale place. It's a lot of work, but it's better in my opinion than having a yard sale because you get more money for the items and you sell more items. I'll get to shop earlier than the general public which is a well worth bonus to me. I usually sale 80% of the stuff that I take, which covers what I spend at all the consignment sales of the season. Therefore, I think that it's worth it.
