Happy Halloween

On Tuesday and Wednesday Hartford and Emily carved these pumpkins. Actually, Emily picked out the patterns and Hartford carved them.On Friday, the kids were not allowed to dress up at school. However, the YMCA allowed the children to bring their costume and put them on there. Thursday night Emily decided that she would dress up at the YMCA as "Princess super girl from Hawaii."Then, Friday night she decided to go trick-or-treating as "The princess' purple unicorn from Hawaii".Notice the red shoes from the super girl costume.

Our Weedend

Our weekend went well. Friday night Emily and I started straightening the house up and deciding what crafts we wanted to start. Here are two of them:

I did a lot of patch work on Emily's clothes. See below. She is a little rough on the knees of her jeans. I added a few flowers for design measures. Luckily, I purchase the majority of her clothes second hand so when a hole is formed, I don't sweat it. She'll only get about two more months wear out of them anyway. It has never failed that by the end of the year, she change sizes. The other day when I picked Emily up from the YMCA, a counselor stated that Emily seemed to be getting taller. Her size 7 slim pants fit perfectly on her at the moment. However, in Emily's opinion fitting perfectly means they are too little and we need to buy three sizes bigger. Since she does prefer bigger clothes, it's easier to layer and that is what she loves to do.
There is just too little time in Emily's life here lately for t.v. She has been busy doing homework, more chores, more crafts, going to the library, going to brownie meetings, playing outside, and generally playing more with her toys. She even has stopped asking me if she can watch TV. In seven days she has only watched her TV on Sunday. Below is an example of how she plays with her toys. She dresses them up.
The only bad thing about her not watching TV is that when she gets a yellow mark from school, we can't punish her by taking the TV away. But I think we can figure something else out. However this week, Hartford and I decided to ignore her yellow mark. Come on people who hasn't made faces in the cafeteria?

PTA night

Tonight was PTA night at Pharr Elementary. Learning games were set up throughout the school. Also, there was art projects to be done in the art rooms and physical games to play in the gym. Here are a few on Emily playing in the gym.

Here's a picture of Emily and her Kindergarten teacher and her baby. Emily has told me that she stops by and sees Mrs. Gilford ever so often. Mrs. Gilford told me that she missed Emily, especially her afternoon conversations.
At the end of the night the children in grades K-2 did songs. Emily did an excellent job with her grade. At the very end of the night, prizes were given away. Emily didn't take it well that she didn't get a prize and she really didn't take it well that a little girl that has been mean to her won a prize.

My Little Princess

Emily still plays dress up and wants me to take a pictures and movies of her. I wish I could stop time so that she could stay six years old for a little longer.

This morning

Emily exclaimed this morning, "Mom, get your camera. I see something beautiful."

Mountains

Mountains, glorious mountains, especially in the fall.

These pictures were taken on I-26 going to Grandma's house in Virginia. Ugh, she wore her Sponge Bob shirt. I would get rid of the thing, but Emily would miss it and wouldn't believe me if I told her that she had outgrown it.

Socks

Emily has a thing for socks. Here's a picture of her one day last week going to school. She rolled her jeans legs up so that everyone could see her socks.

All I needed...

All I needed was a pair of dress pants. Instead, I now have:

a pair of shorts,

two pairs of Capri pants,

two dress shirts,

a Halloween shirt,

a pair of shoes,

a cheap wallet,

a dressy jacket,

a necklace,

Emily a pair of shoes,

a Christmas gift for Hartford,

a Christmas tree skirt,

and four matching stockings.

Ugh, I still NEED a pair of dress slacks for work! But at this rate, I can't afford to keep searching for a pair of dress pants.

Off we go!

We had an awesome weekend! Since I have a lot of pictures to share, I'm going to do several blog post instead of doing a huge blog.

Earlier in the week our camping trip to Enota Mountain was placed on hold because of the gas crises. Luckily, things started improving during mid-week and our trip once again was a go. By the looks of this picture, I think Emily was a little excited to get on the road.

Fall Festival

Since Emily was so excited to get on the road and I admit that I was too, we had plenty of time to play before we had to check into the campground. While we were going down the road, we stopped at a yard sale. Although we didn't find much of anything, it was nice to stretch our legs and look around.

It wasn't long after we got back into the truck that we spotted a fall festival at a Catholic church and we stopped. The first thing Emily did was play on the inflatable rock wall/slide.

Emily loves getting her hair done in crazy styles. Here's the finished product:While Emily was getting her hair done, Hartford disappeared. I was glad the he returned especially when I saw the pork rinds that he was carrying.

North GA Corn Maze

After the festival, we stopped at the North Georgia Corn Maze. We went there last year as well. Before we entered the maze, Emily played on the hay bails. She also played on them for a little while before we left.

After the Emily played on the hay bails, it was time to get lost in a field of corn. As always, I walked behind them. Because if they followed me, we would be lost forever.
I love this picture. I think she looks so cute with her missing tooth.
I think this picture shows Emily's excitement. Now, image me yelling, "Wait for me or I'll get lost!"

The corn maze was a lot fun. Emily had a grand time even if the grasshoppers were trying to play with her and she didn't want them to play with her.

We didn't finish the corn maze but when we spotted a way out, we took it. It was hot and somebody (me) forgot to take a bottle of water with us.

While Hartford went to grab the water from the truck, Emily posed.

This picture was taken for the sole reason to prove that I was not crazy last year. Last year, I kept spotting a horse and as soon as I turned around, it was no where to be seen. Hartford and Emily never did see them and they had me believing that I was crazy.

Stuck on the side of the road

As we were trucking along in Helen, GA, traffic came to a halt for over an hour. Unfortunately, it was due to a serious motorcycle accident. While we sat there, we listened to a couple of children's audio stories. Then people started to get out of their vehicles to visit with one another and stretch their legs. I met a guy that was familiar with Roanoke and Bristol, Virginia. Hartford talked to guy that was heading out with his family to a wedding. And Emily, she played in the dirt on the side of the road and founds rocks to bring home. She was filthy but she had a grand ole time.
Here's a picture of the creek that was on the other side of the road.

Finally at the camp ground

Here's a picture of Hartford's truck in front of the Lodge.

While Hartford checked in, Emily and I went to the pond and watched the ducks swim and saw a toddler boy catch his first fish. He was as proud as could be, but he wasn't touching it even if his grandma was insisting on a picture.
Once camp was set up Hartford relaxed.
And I took a few pictures of Emily playing.

Our campsite was next to the play ground. It was nice that Emily could play without me or Hartford standing over her, but it was a little noisy with laughter and whines of tattle taler's and Mothers saying, "be nice to your sister/brother."
